how you became a furry

i'm just wondering how you became a furry and how your fursona came about?

My fursona was just a normal lion and his name was Theo the lion, but since then i wan't a true furry name for myself and i wanted to keep being a lion since they are cool and cute, and my favorite color was blue so i had to come up with a good name that goes with the color blue. Everyone here knows that tiger that did the back flip in one of those dance things an AC and i forget the year. His name was ticer or something, well i just took the "T" off and got Icer and that name stunk well to the color of my fursona.

i found the furry fandom in 2004 or so, via encyclopedia dramatica's predecessor, ljdrama.org (now defunct). there was an article about rose quoll and some people who stole some icons from her, or something like that. i had never heard of furries before and was fascinated! i spent a lot of time reading about furry things after that, and visiting VCL and admiring the artwork.

maybe a year or two later, i met my first furry in real life. some time after that, the furst state was born! i attended my first convention in 2009. it's been a super fun ride!

I became a furry after watching lots of Anime and Cartoons. Like for example Swat katz, ying yang yo and such.
I found the furry fandom ⁴ years ago.
My fursona is a teenage panda with blonde hair with normal panda colors.
I really wanna meet furs in person but mother wouldn't allow it till I'm 18 and I don't know any furs around my parts. * sighs* It be so awsome to meet another fur!!

Well for me I cant really say excaty wen it happend I always loved copying the sounds of animals and would express myself sometimes with noises nstead off human words beacuse alot of the times it seems that I was ignored anyway. I even havea friend that can shatter likea chiimpmonk That became my nick name for him lol he was the Only oneto respond back with animal sound. And yeha we even did this in high school. I alway loved animals and wanted to actaully be one. But you cant say that when youare asked what do you want to be when you grow up and you get laughed at. I didnt find out about the actaul furry fandom till 2008 when I joined a avatar chat site called Imvu where you could be anything you wanted. More recently I have found the real furry fandom . I have sice goe to two events and casue im shy didnt talk to nearly as many people as I wanted to. So this is just another landmark on finally being able to be who I always felt like inside. I know many people prollly will look at me differentl but this is who I have always been I am proud to be a furry. I dont feel the need tohide it all that much becasue Ihave already ben reject by most of socitiy.

My fursona is named Buns. Yes i do have a big butt xD lol. I am a cat/ rabbit ( cabbit) mixed with some Wolf.
Yes I will mewhowl haha. At this point I only have a wolf halloween costume x3 Iknow its not a real fursit or anything but I think I look cute enough. I hope to one day hve a full fursuit ^.^but that wil take some tme and a little more creativity on my side lol

Found out about furries through Rooster Teeth (Red Vs Blue) in 2006, was interested in the art part of it and after a bit tried drawing some myself. That's about it really. Tried getting involved with the group on Rooster Teeth but I quickly found out most of them were....more along the lines of teenagers trying to be "different" thankfully a couple of the more involved ones pointed me to FA and a few web comics and it was a good way to get my feet wet.

In hindsight though...probably wouldn't have interacted with most of the RT furries ever again.
