Let's all support a deployed friend of TFS!

Hey, everyone! I don't know how well you all know origami gryphon, but she's an awesome girl and a great suiter and also in the air force. Right around new year's (almost exactly on christmas I think!) she was deployed for a 6 month stint in Afghanistan and is gonna be missing a couple of cons she really wanted to go to, as well as a bunch of furbowls (possibly even anthrocon!) so I figured that it would be nice to send some love over her way in the form of a big box of gifts.

I'm sure freight would be expensive, so let's keep items small. Snacks, candies, food items, notes, little trinkets, etc would be great. She loves pokemon stuff, too. No liquor or adult-themed items. If you do decide to contribute a small something (or even if you have no little item to put in the box) a note of encouragement, or thanks, or friendship would probably mean a lot to her and let her know that we miss her as much as she misses us! The notes are actually a really important part. I guess I'll bring index cards and crayons and pens for people to doodle notes for her.

I figure I'm going to gather all the little gifts at next furbowl, stuff them into a box with some other things that I tried to send to her previously (and failed at) and then ship them out ASAP. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. I don't know much about shipping things to people deployed so if there is anyone who is more familiar with it who might want to point out other restrictions, that'd be great.

I'll try and get something... manybe Ill draw her sona in an air force uniform... or a bunch of us waiting with a yellow ribbion around a tree... is that just for army or for all forces? Just bumbling ideas... I have pokemon fiqurines to...

usually when people deploy you can contact their unit back here and they have people that can send care packages for free to her via the family readiness group (or whatever they call it in the air force.) one of the best things to give (or at least when i was deployed) is personal hygiene stuff, deodorants, toothpaste foot powder/spray cause while they can buy that stuff over there it might not be what she likes or perfers anyway enough of my ramblings

I've never met her, but I'd be totally up for writing a note of gratitude. If that's not too odd seeming. Maybe grab a pack of cards for her. I'm always willing to thank some one in the forces.

She made an FA journal listing some stuff and mentioning she liked peppermint patties and paydays.

I didn't know she was in the Air Force, wish I met her when I was in. I do wish her the best of luck.
