I'm still coming, but I might not make it to CiCi's to eat. I'm going to try to leave around 6 PM which should get me to CiCi's around 7 but if I am too slow packing up my suit and getting ready I might not be out the door until 7 PM putting me at the alley at 8 ;P ...fashionably late o.o

Aaand I decided just to partial tonight since it'll be easier getting in and out of, I still have a ton of leftover coughing from being sick the past week and a half and if I start having a fit I wanna be able to desuit quick ;P

Delaware Furbowl 32 Post Meet Report

And so concludes the 2011 DE Furbowl Season with DE Furbowl 32 now behind us. We had an absolutely astonishing number of 164 attendees for this month’s event. Our old record was 147 and to blow it out of the water like we did took my breath away. I didn’t think we’d hit 150 before the years up, but now I’m wondering if 200 isn’t too far off.

Trust us when I say we’re doing our best to keep the quality of the event as high as possible. We want to keep that same warm, welcoming, and personal atmosphere that has made the DE Furbowl so successful throughout its events, no matter how many attendees we have.

The night’s event itself went very very smoothly. I apologize the lanes opening up slightly later and we’re working on our co-ordination with the bowling center staff each time to make sure we get lanes opened up as soon as we can.

Looking into the next year I have some things I’d like to come improve upon.

I want to re-examine how we do the group photo for 2012 season. What we have going now works for the most part but with so many folks and the event growing as it is I think we can organize it better. The fursuit section of the group photo especially. There was an accident that caused a fursuiter some distress (completely my fault) and I want to make sure that never happens again. You’ll be seeing some changes there and we hope you can bare with us while we figure out what works greatest for that part of the Furbowl.

We’re also going to look into expanding the headless lounge. It, like the group photo, works but is a little cramped and chaotic. An easy fix should be just moving the wall forward but we’re going to do some measurements to see if we can come up with a better way to optimize that space. Once again, pardon our dust while we try to change things for the better in 2012.

One item that we didn’t get to implement this year was a “artist’s alley” type area. Which comes down to a matter of space. We had wanted to try and figure out where we can dedicate some tables and space for our artists this year but we never got the opportunity. With our winter break coming up we’re going to definitely try and prioritize this. I see so many artists hanging out on the floor or macgeyvering positions around the arcade machines that I think it’s about time we had a proper place for the furry artists.

One thing the DE Furbowl depends on is it’s RSVP list over at surple.com. We use it to try and judge how much space we’re going to need to comfortably house the event and figure out what amount of lanes and eating spaces we’re going to need. It’s very, very important that you let us know if you’re coming. I don’t need my stripes fading just yet!

Another thing the DE Furbowl depends on is it’s bowlers. During this event we had roughly 60 bowlers which was 40% of the attendance and it’d be much more comfortable if we can get that up to 55% to 60%. While it’s OK to come to the event and just hang out it really does help to bowl. It’s a way to justify us spreading out across the lanes and make sure we have enough room for everyone. More space, more fun.

The good news is that we are consistently hitting the mark for discounted bowling. Our special group rate isn’t in danger of going anywhere. The bowling alley staff and management are also still happy to accommodate us each month. We get a lot of smiles out of the people that work there and you guys are phenomenal in helping clean up after ourselves which really does help.

With the end of the 2011 DE Furbowl Season I just want to give special thanks to everyone that helps run things behind the scenes. These are the folks that put up the headless lounge, man the info desk, take the pictures, and go above and beyond in their support for the Furbowl.

LupineSpark: My #2 guy and one of the best friends a tiger could ask for. You’re selflessness and smarts are more valuable to this event than you know. Thank you so much
Luna Cevere: Your sanity is contagious. Thank you.
Reaux: Your photos look super awesome, your upkeep on the TFS FurAffinity page is invaluable, and your upbeat attitude helps fuel the Furbowl. Don’t stop doing what you’re doing!
Paintid: Your straight-shootin attitude and ability to get what needs to be done, done is top-notch.
Bartlett: Your unquestioning manning of the info desk and reliability helps keep me sane.
Inu-Desu: You might not be a Furbowl staffer (yet) but you sure act like one, thank you for the support!
Fawks: Your support and experience are extremely valuable. You have a knack for being where you need to be without me knowing you need to be there. Keep this up.
AbelPhellan: Your upbeat attitude and wonderful voice bazooka bring me peace of mind and keep my voice in one peice. Thank you!
SkippyFox and LupineFox: Your surple.com website is amazing and continues to be a critical part of our event. Thanks so much.
SpiritWolven: You have no idea how neat I think those eartags are. Absolutely smashing!

And last but most certainly not least I want to thank all of you wonderful guys and gals that make up the most unbelievable furry community in the world. You guys make the event as awesome as it is. It truly is an honor to serve you guys and your amazing support for the DE Furbowl continues to blow us away.

We’re looking forward to 2012.

If you haven’t seen it yet be sure to check out our Fur Affinity gallery for all the latest pictures from the event.

RE: Delaware Furbowl 32: IT'S COLD -or- Christmahanakwanzika
I once again had a great time. So thanks to everyone who was working this.

For the next Furbowl, could I make a few suggestions:
There was a slight crowd around the headless area, towards enterance. It was not too bad, but once or twice I had to excuse myself past some people chatting there.

Maybe some form of reminder to be gentle around fursuiters. I know it was accidental, but I had someone hug me and shoulder my jaw. It is not too bad, just a little loose, but I'd be concerned for future hugs like that.

My meet/con photos:

Yeah, it was for friends of friends. However, I've uploaded all the photos I thought were the best to my website.

I doubt anyone will read this, but I want to wish the Furbowlers Furry Holidays! and the same if you haven't been to a Delaware Furbowl. This year alone, it survived the billboard incident and came through with some new additions: fursuit lounge, a well-lit central gathering spot, Furst State swag, and a place where over a hundred guests can hang out on a Saturday night! I don't want to brag about the eight times I have been this year since some miss out due to individual matters. If you haven't been, but you are able to attend, I encourage you to attend throughout 2012. Smile
